Event set for Oct. 13 will feature speakers and panelists discussing challenges, opportunities and best practices for the manufacturing sector in eastern Kentucky
The spotlight will be on Kentucky manufacturers and growing Kentucky’s manufacturing economy at a regional briefing Oct. 13 at Somerset Community College (SCC).
The briefing — a partnership between the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers (KAM), the Somerset-Pulaski Economic Development Authority (SPEDA) and SCC — is one of eight across the state this summer and fall at Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) campuses across the Commonwealth. Designed to give KAM information that will help improve its advocacy for manufacturers, the event is open to the public and will feature speakers and panelists, government affairs updates, lunch, and a tour of KCTCS facilities.
SPEDA President and CEO Chris Girdler said he looks forward to discussing challenges, opportunities, solutions and best practices for the manufacturing sector not only in Pulaski County, but across the eastern Kentucky region.
“Regionalism is so important in building and growing a strong economy and workforce,” Girdler said. “Our communities must support one another as we all work toward a common goal of providing more and better opportunities for our residents and visitors. I greatly appreciate KAM’s regional approach to these events. SPEDA is honored to sponsor the eastern Kentucky briefing and we look forward to highlighting manufacturers in our area and learning how we can improve.”
Girdler will sit on a service provider panel discussion during the briefing moderated by KAM President Frank Jemley. Topics will include workforce, supply chain, legal and training issues and include professionals from across the region.
Registration is $25. To register or learn more about the event, visit https://kam.us.com/event_postings/eastern-kentucky-regional-briefing.
