two common problems | one common solution
Kentucky FAME - Cumberlands Chapter
To remain globally competitive, manufacturers must find enough qualified workers. Technically minded individuals desire a well-paying, challenging career they can start TODAY. The Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KY FAME) is a partnership of regional manufacturers whose purpose is to implement dual track, apprenticeship-style training that will create a pipeline of highly skilled workers. Locally, the KY FAME Cumberlands Chapter includes SPEDA, Somerset Community College and nearly 20 employer sponsors.
Earn-and-learn model
The Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program is a five-semesterprogram that combines proven workplace components of apprenticeship with an earn-and learn model. Students learn about electricity, fluid power, mechanics, fabrication, and robotics in a classroom setting and through on-the-job training with one of our participating manufacturers.
Skills to succeed
At the end of the program, students will have earned an associate degree in applied science in industrial maintenance technology – advanced manufacturing technician track, certification as an advanced manufacturing technician (AMT) and two years of work experience — ready to enter the workforce full time with all the skills needed to succeed.
The result
Through KY FAME, you have the opportunity to invest in the next generation of advanced manufacturers by providing them the specific on-the-job training you need to remain globally competitive.
